17 injured in bus-truck collision at Anmod
Seventeen passengers travelling in a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus were injured after the vehicle collided head-on with a truck proceeding to Karnataka at Anmod Ghat on Tuesday afternoon. The KSRTC bus was travelling from Belgaum to Panaji.
The accident took place on a sharp turn on the Anmod ghat road in Goa territory. The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene leaving the injured to their fate and blocking traffic on the NH 4-A. A passenger informed the police about the accident over phone. The drivers later surrendered before the police, Collem PI Jivba Dalvi said.
The injured passengers were shifted to Ponda community health centre (CHC). The Ponda CHC discharged 13 people including two minors – Vijay, 12 and Ajay Halgekar, 15, – and 4 passengers were referred to Hospicio hospital, Margao.
Hospicio has admitted passenger Madani Patel, a resident of Khorlim-Tiswadi and shifted three injured – Suresh Velip, resident of Paroda-Quepem; Bhaulal Jain, resident of Margao and Sarfaraj (surname unknown) from Karnataka to GMC. [TOI]
