2-day Sports Expo begins at Vasco today

 

 A two-day ‘Sports Expo’ will be organised at Baina beach on December 7 and 8 from 9.30 am to 8 pm in view of the 3rd edition of grand Goa River Marathon to be held in Vasco on December 9.
 
The Sports Expo will showcase products from Puma, Highline, Garmin Sports, Adventure Watches, Powermax Fitness along with food courts, music shows blending a mood of sports, health sun, sand and a Goan carnival.
 
The participants of the Goa River Marathon have to collect their racer kits like bibs, timing chips, route maps during the two day Sports Expo.
 
The Vasco Sports Club along with sponsors and co-sponsors are all set to organise the 3rd edition of Goa River Marathon in the port town on December 9. The preparations are in final stage.
 
The total registration for the grand event of Goa River Marathon has received a tremendous response from the athletes all over the country as well as from the world. The athletes from 14 foreign countries involving Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Sweden, UK, US, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria have registered their entries on the official website of the Goa River Marathon which was launched recently in a function held at Hotel HQ.
 
Apart from this, the athletes from all over India involving 22 states has registered their entries in order to participate in the grand event.
 
The total registration received till date is 1,500 for the half and 10-kilometer race. Apart from these 15 companies from Goa, two companies from Mumbai are participating in the Corporate relay.
 
The organisers who are tirelessly working for the grand success of the 3rd edition of Goa River Marathon have disclosed that more than just being a sporting event, the Goa River Marathon is now turning out to be a major tourism booster for Goa.
 
All the hotel rooms in and around Vasco have been booked in advance prior to December 7.
 
This time a new concept of pacing has been introduced wherein six of India’s most seasoned marathon runners will help participants complete the Half Marathon in 2, 2.5 or 3 hours. All one has to do is register on the Goa River Marathon website, for their desired completion time, interact with these pacers for guidance and on race day follow their timing flags.
 
The start timing for various events on December 9 will be as follows: The Half Marathon will kick off at 6 am, 10- kilometer run would kick off at 6.15 am, Corporate relay would kick off at 6.45 am and 5-kilomter fun walk run would kick off at 9 am. The athletes have to be present at the venue half an hour or one hour before the kick off time.
 
The road leading from Baina beach to Swatantra Path, Hiralal Junction to Chicalim Junction and Chicalim Junction to Cortalim Junction would be closed down for the use of traffic from 5 am to 10 am.
 
As most of the vehicles would face inconvenience during the time of event, the people who wanted to go to Baina Beach should utilise the road leading to Airport- Varunapuri and Mangor-Hill. Those who wanted to go to Panaji they should utilise the four-lane highway connecting
