2 held for causing nuisance
The Panjim police arrested two locals from the Kingfisher Village, opposite Old GMC Complex, for causing nuisance under the influence of alcohol, last night.
Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said the two, supposedly from Caranzalem were arrested under section 151 of the IPC.
“There was a quarrel and subsequently the two got into a scuffle near the stage inside the Kingfisher village. We arrested them under preventive measures,” he said.
Police have confirmed both persons were under influence of alcohol. They were also medically examined. Kingfisher Village has set up three liquor stalls, on the sidelines of the ongoing International Film Festival of India.
Women’s organizations have been opposing the sale of alcohol in the government premises, one of the reasons being brawls and other nuisances under the influence of alcohol. [H]
