2 held for playing loud music

CALANGUTE: While tourism is reaching its crescendo along the Anjuna coast, two restaurants have been left to face the music after they were found blaring music beyond permissible decibels and well after the time-limit.

Anjuna Police arrested Vishnu Shirodkar, manager of Café Lilliput and John Noronha, owner of John & Janet Restaurant, Anjuna, after locals complained that loud music was being played at these two places beyond 10 pm.

Acting on the complaints, a police team visited the spot and confirmed that loud music was being played in violation of the Madhya Pradesh Control of Music and Noises Act.

Police also seized music equipments such speakers, mixers and amplifiers from the two sites. Shirodkar and Noronha were later released on bail.

It may be recalled that Anjuna Police had taken similar action on November 28 against a shack on Anjuna beach. [H]
