2 locals stab 2 Rajasthan tourists at Baga

Two tourists from Rajasthan were stabbed by two unknown locals outside a popular nightclub at Baga in the wee hours of Saturday. The attack comes less than a week after a tourist from Chennai was stabbed to death in a scuffle with two bouncers at a beach shack in Colva.

Calangute police said Krishna Kumar Soni, 26, and Sonu Soni, 21, got into an argument with the locals around 3.45am. In the scuffle, the two tourists were stabbed. While Sonu has been discharged after treatment at the Goa medical college and hospital-where they were rushed- sources said Krishna underwent an operation for his injuries and is still at GMC.Police, unwilling to divulge too much information in light of their ongoing investigation, told STOI that one of the local accused has been identified and a manhunt is under way. Efforts are on to identify the second accused. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against the two locals.

Last Sunday, Madan G, a 29-year-old engineer from Chennai, on holiday in Goa, was stabbed during a scuffle with two bouncers. He died on the way to hospital. He was part of a group of seven who were at a beach shack at Colva. Police had said the scuffle initially ensued between Madan and a waiter over delay in being served beer. While bouncer Xavier D'Souza is in police custody, bouncer Basilio alias Popod Ratos, on Thursday night, jumped his police escort and is still on the loose. They were being taken from Colva police station to the lock-up at Margao police station after interrogations at the former station. [TOI]
