25 injured in Curchorem as bus plunges into field

A bus driver and 24 passengers, including an infant, were injured when a bus plunged into a roadside field near the Jai Santoshi Mata temple at Oddar-Curchorem on Sunday evening.
According to Curchorem police, the mishap took place as members of the Muslim community were travelling from Fonkulem-Sanvordem in five buses to attend the Isthima programme at Margao. 
The fourth bus reached near the Jai Santoshi Mata temple, when the driver lost control and the speeding bus (GA-02-Z-5727) went off the road. A police team led by ASI Peter Fernandes reached the site along with a fire brigade and a 108 ambulance to rescue passengers from the bus. Some locals also assisted in the rescue of the injured passengers.
Six passengers, Afina Bi, Shaikh Daud, Babi Jaan, Nasir Shaikh, Hussain Bi Pathan and B Shaikh were moved to Hospicio Hospital, Margao, while Ashpak Bagwan, Razia Mulla, Shamshad Shaikh, Shahiza Shaikh, Gousai Shaikh, Mabubae Zamkandi and Bashir Ahamd were admitted to the Curchorem Primary Health Centre. Ten passengers were discharged after first aid.
The bus driver, Suleman Mulla (29), along with his nine-month baby boy, Aakib Mulla, are also admitted in the Curchorem PHC. [H]
