4 bike riders injured in Porvorim mishaps

 Four motorcycle riders were injured in two separate mishaps at Porvorim on Wednesday.

In the first incident, three motorcycle riders were knocked down by a speeding truck near the District Institute of Education and Training at Porvorim at about 10 am.

According to Porvorim police, a SUV vehicle (GA-06-F-7667) was waiting by the side of the highway opposite D.I.E.T to cross the road and proceeds toward PDA colony.  

At the same time, two students on their motorcycles (RJ-14-BH-9167 and GA-03-J-6914) were crossing the road to proceed towards the Indian Institute of Hotel Management.

A sand-laden truck (GA-06-F-2667) proceeding towards Panjim collided with the SUV, before knocking down the two motorcycles. The truck also struck another motorcycle (GA-07-H-3781).

The three motorcycle riders, Siddharth Krishnan, Rupesh Nair and Rajesh Naik, sustained injuries in the mishap and were admitted to Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim for treatment.

Porvorim Police has registered a case against the truck driver Pratik Gupta.

In another mishap, a motorcycle rider Sudesh Chopdekar was also injured when he dashed against a car near the petrol pump at Porvorim.

Police Hawaldar Vilas Patil is investigating both cases. [H]
