6 flats burgled at Aquem

Margao: Unknown burglars broke into six flats in the Electricity Department Housing Society at Aquem Alto last night and decamped with cash and ornaments from them. As some of the occupants are out of station, what is stolen from their flats is not yet known.Police have registered a case under Sections 456 and 380 of Indian Penal Code against unknown suspects for burglary in the night and housebreaking.As per the complaint lodged by Nagraj Agade occupant of flat No B/2/18 cash amounting to Rs 1.80 lakhs along with a ring and one silver anklet were stolen from his house. He said the cash was taken on a loan from Goa State Co-Operative Bank that day and the family members had gone for a wedding celebration.
In fact all the six flats broken into did not have the occupants staying there last night as some had gone to their native places and others have gone on a pilgrimage. In fact one occupant has gone to Tirupathi and another to his native place and hence what exactly is stolen from their flats is not known.According to the complaint lodged in the name of Agnelo Fernandes, cash of Rs 2000 and a pair of earrings were stolen from her flat while according to Meera Satarkar cash of Rs 2.5 lakh along with two rings were stolen from her flat. She said her son was asked to wear the rings but he refused and that is how the thieves could steal them.Police have for the time being registered the complaint of Nagraj Agade and Agnelo Fernandes.
