7 Karnataka tourists injured in Karmalghat mishap

 

 Seven tourists from Karnataka were injured after the bus they were in travelling hit the hillock on Karmalghat slope late Sunday evening.
According to reports, three passengers, including the bus cleaner, were seriously injured and were rushed to Community Health Centre Balli, from where they were referred to Hospicio in Margao, while four tourists who sustained minor injuries were shifted to CHC Chaudi-Canacona.
The four injured passengers, shifted at CHC Chaudi, have been identified as Prakash Yadagiri (42), Soma Shekar (28), Anil Biradar (26) and Hariprasad (28).
According to sources, the bus (KA-16 B-3022) that was carrying tourists from Karnataka had left Panjim at 5 pm and was proceeding to Davangere-Karnataka.
However, while negotiating the Karmalghat slope, the bus driver reported brake failure and in a bid to halt the bus, hit the hillock, before it was brought to stationery a few metres away from the Ganapti Ghumti located at the Ghat section. [H]
