70 new COVID cases in Goa

Panaji: The state on Sunday recorded 70 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking the total number of active cases to 717.

The bulletin issued by the directorate of health services said that 70 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, which also saw the recovery of 58 patients from the pandemic.

This takes confirmed coronavirus cases in the state to 1198. There are 717 active COVID cases, while a total of 478 patients have recovered from the disease till date.

Out of 2166 samples taken in the last 24 hours, 70 samples tested positive, while 1693 samples tested negative for the disease. However, reports of 403 samples are still awaited.

The bulletin said that nine persons are in isolation wards;521 people are under quarantine at various residencies and hotels in the state.

Mangor Hill in Vasco so far recorded 258 cases while 235 cases in the state are linked to the Mangor Hill outbreak.

The major locations from where most cases reported are: Sada (61), Baina (41), Curtorim (31), New Vaddem (27), Chimbel (26), Zuarinagar (24) and Morlem (22).

The break-up of the active COVID cases is as follows: Curtorim (29), Margao (14), 25 cases linked to Ambelim, Quepem (10), Loutolim (11), Indira Nagar-Chimbel (5), Navelim (6), Ganga Nagar-Mapusa (6), Sankhali (8), Sal Bicholim (3), Canacona (5) and one case each at Nachinola, Porvorim, Vaddem and Kundaim

One isolated case has also been recorded at Pilar. [NT]
