Admissions for First Year degree courses for 2020-21 start today

Panjim: The online admissions for the first-year degree programme in general stream for the academic year 2020-21 will begin from Wednesday.

This is for the very first time that an Online Common platform has been developed for admissions.

The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) director Prasad Lolayekar said that the students, who have cleared Class XII, and seeking admission in any of colleges which are under the administrative control of DHE, should apply through the common portal available on http:// from July 15 onwards.

The Government and Aided Colleges under DHE’s administrative control offer a spectrum of courses including BA, BCOM, BSC, BCA, BBA, LLB, Music, Home Science, BSC/B.Ed, BA/BE.d and several others.

Through the portal, students can apply to a maximum of two colleges of their choice across Goa with the priority option.

Lolayekar added that if the student could not get admission in any of the colleges in the first round, then he or she can apply for the subsequent rounds where vacancies are available.

The portal will provide detailed guidelines for the students about the online application process.

The portal will also facilitate the merit list generation, counseling, final selection, and online payment. The students, who are not shortlisted in first iteration of admission, will get a chance to apply in the second iteration.

Around 15,339 students have cleared the Class XII board examination this year. [H]
