Alemaos should respect people’s verdict: Caitu
Accusing former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao of playing politics on the Dabolim airport and the controversial Sinquetim-Benaulim bridge, Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva on Wednesday told Churchill and his family to respect the people’s mandate by taking some rest in politics.
“Churchill and his family should take rest and then make a comeback. He should play fair politics and not resort to false and baseless allegations. He thinks the people are fools. We were quite all this time, but will no longer tolerate his allegations. People have made the entire Alemao family sit at home. They should respect the wishes of the people,” Caitu told newsmen at the site of the Sinquetim-Benaulim bridge on Wednesday evening.
Caitu said that Churchill had forced the bridge on the people of Navelim and Benaulim when the local residents were opposed to the bridge. Referring to Churchill’s decision to make a political comeback from January, Ciatu said the former PWD Minister has raked up the airport issue for his political ends.
“Churchill once said that “Mopa will be never and Dabolim forever. Now, he says the Civil Aviation ministry should give a letter that both airports will co-exist. The people of Goa know Churchill very well”, he said.
The Benaulim MLA demanded that the government should recover the cost of the bridge from Churchill for imposing the bridge when the people were opposed to it. [H]
