A 76th minute goal by Alleluia Fernandes enabled Curtorim Gymkhana to register a solitary goal win over Goa Police Sports Club in the GFA’s First Division League match played at Duler grounds, here on Thursday.
Both the sides played their first league match on artificial turf and took time to settle down.
However, Goa Police adapted to the field conditions faster and made two good attempts at the rival goal.
In the 30th minute, Rupesh Morje’s free-kick was poorly fisted away by Curtorim keeper Johnson Bhagat towards Punaji Kalangutkar whose shot at the goal was cleared by defender Alleluia from the goalline.
Two minutes later a power-packed right footer from Goa Police’s Paresh Morje was collected by keeper Johnson with a full stretched diving save.
Another chance went abegging for Goa Police, five minutes before the breather as Paresh Morje’s placement missed the target narrowly.
On crossing over, Curtorim were a better side and produced some constructive moves.
