Architect engaged for Panjim will plan Margao: CM
Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar has announced that the architect engaged by the government to plan the Capital City will also be entrusted with the work of carrying our planning of the Commercial Capital.
Parrikar made the announcement after Margao Municipal Chairperson Arthur D’Silva made a plea to the Chief Minister to devote his attention to the burning issues plaguing the commercial capital.
“My government will accord priority to Margao’s development. The architect engaged by the government to plan Panjim city will be told to plan Margao to ease traffic congestion and solve other problems”, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the government expects the architect to submit his report on Panjim planning by January-end or early February, adding that the architect will take up work on the Margao plan within a month-and-a-half.
Earlier, the MMC Chairperson pointed out that Margao has not witnessed development in the last nine months of the new BJP government. He said the town is facing the burning issue of traffic congestion with the problems turning from bad to worse with each passing day.
While complimenting the Chief Minister for his bold decision and schemes which will benefit the poor and the downtrodden, Arthur compared Parrikar to “Chhatrapati Shivaji” for his continuous endeavour to meet the basic needs of the citizens. [H]
