Arguments heard on principal’s bail plea

Margao: Arguments on the anticipatory bail plea filed by the Principal of Margao School for his alleged involvement in the case of 13-year-old student harsh punishment were heard at the Goa Children’s Court today. The counsel has argued on the delay of filing the complaint by the parent of the student and has questioned that if the offence took place on Jan 27 why the complaint was filed only on Jan 29. The counsel has also hinted that the delay was to fabricate the case against the principal in the dock. The Counsel has also argued that there is difference in the complainant’s claims of kind of punishment and in the one that has been spoken to visual media by the student.
The Counsel has also contended that the CCTV footage of that day is yet to be testified claimed that the offences with which the Principal is charged do not warrant custodial interrogation and therefore his arrest is not required. The state meanwhile has opposed the bail plea as they claim that the accused may influence the witnesses who are two other students who were allegedly punished along with the victim in the case. They also claimed that the CCTV footage is yet to be procured and hence the bail plea be rejected. The order on the Anticipatory bail plea will be given today at the GCA Court. [H]
