Ashes of Bal Thackeray immersed in Harvalem pond

The ashes of the late Shiv Sena supremo Balasahebh Thackeray were immersed in the Harvalem pond at Sanquelim on Friday.
An urn containing the ashes of late Thackeray was brought from Mumbai to Goa on Tuesday and was first taken to Margao, before it was moved to Panjim and Mapusa, where members of Shiv Sena and several other people from different walks of life paid their last respects.
On Friday, the ashes were taken in a procession to Bordem-Bicholim and a motorcade stopped at various places to enable people to pay their respects to the departed leader.
In the evening, the remains were immersed in the Harvalem pond amidst religious rituals. State Shiv Sena chief, Ramesh Naik, South Goa Shiv Sena Chief Shashi Paryekar and other leaders were present at Sanquelim.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said the country had lost one of its great leaders and added that Thackarey’s contribution to Maharashtra could not be forgotten.  [H]
