BJP govt capable of turning Goa into a model state: CM

The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar said that the BJP government is fully capable of turning Goa into a model state further stating that there was no reason to worry about the state’s financial
position.

The chief minister made the remark while speaking at a function at Mayem on Wednesday. The function was attended by Mayem MLA and deputy speaker, Mr Anant Shet, deputy collector, Mr Narayan Gad, Mr Sanjit Rodrigues and sarpanchas and panchas of various panchayats.

On the occasion, the chief minister took stock of the problems faced by various panchayats and assured to take up developmental works on priority basis.  

Speaking about mining industry, he said the government was keen to start legal mining in the state as early as possible, and that, a report on the state’s mining status would be placed before the Supreme Court very soon.

Further he said that the foundation stone for construction of Chorao-Raibandar bridge would be laid by next March. He said if brides were built connectivity to remotes areas would improve and this would in turn give boost to tourism in the state.

Another issue discussed was about the solution to evacuee property which he assured to solve by December 19. Speaking about agriculture, he said that farming, which is the main occupation of Mayem people, would be supported by making available modern machinery.

He appealed to the government officials to co-operate with the people and make available all the welfare schemes to them without any hassle.

He also spoke about undertaking projects for the all-round development of Mayem constituency and also developing tourism potential of the village. [NT]
