Blood samples from Mobor test negative for Dengue

 

Health services on Thursday said that all the five cases from Mobor-Cavelossim tested for suspected Dengue fever have come negative.
Chinchinim Health Officer, Dr Nixon Martin Fernandes told Herald on Thursday that the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim has given the report that the five patients, whose blood samples were taken for testing, have tested negative.
He, however, said that the Health Services will be on guard, as a delegation from the Health Services will be visiting the coastal village for an on the spot assessment of the situation. “The DHS had taken blood samples of two patients undergoing treatment for fever at Margao-based private hospital, besides three other fever patients from the fields. All the five cases have come negative,” Dr Fernandes said.
Replying to a question, he said that the health authorities will continue to take all precautionary measures in the affected area of Mobor, given that many patients were affected by the fever. “With the GMC ruling out Dengue, it appears that the area was affected by viral fever. But, the health authorities will not be complacent and will continue its ongoing drive. We will start a screening drive, wherein blood samples of patients will be taken on Monday as part of the continuing exercise”, he added.
Mobor was hit by a scare after 4-5 five patients admitted in a Margao-based private hospital said that they had tested positive for dengue.  [H]
