‘Blue X’mas’ for Vasco locals
It was a “blue Christmas” for residents in many parts of Vasco city, as they had to go without water supply during the day.
Residents of Kharewaddo were seen filling water from PWD water tankers, as efforts were made by the PWD to provide alternate water supply to the affected areas.
When contacted, PWD officials told Herald that they could not pump adequate water to the Vasco reservoir due to a power failure at Verna on Monday evening.
“Besides, a lesser quantity of water has been supplied from the Selaulim water treatment plant to Mormugao taluka during the past few days,” said an official.
According to sources, the PWD pressed into service three private water tankers and these tankers made about 45 trips to supply water to various parts of Vasco city. [H]
