Bonny, Micky give Guardian Angel three points

Fatorda: A last-gasp Bonny Niasso strike helped Guardian Angel Sports Club come from behind to score a 2-1 win over Salgaocar FC in the Goa Sevens Premier League, played at SAG ground, Fatorda, on Sunday.The entertaining clash witnessed a late drama as Guardian Angel scored two goals in the last four minutes of the game as Micky equalised in the 58th minute to cancel Salgaocar FC 56th minute lead scored through Brian while Bonny scored the match-winner in injury time to stun the Salgaocar camp.Salgaocar FC began the match on an attacking note and were denied their first goal in the first minute of the play when Guardian Agnel defender cleared Brian Mascarenhas’ header off the line.With both teams opting for possession play in the first quarter. In the 10th minute, Guardian Angel’s Bonny had a shot at goal which was easily swallowed by Salgaocar keeper Jason D’Mello.
The Curchorem side had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 17th minute but Nicholas missed an open sitter after being set on goal, but the striker shot wide from the touching distance.Salgaocar’sAslon forced Guardian Angel keeper Prathesh into action after the former was fed by Umesh, but the striker’s effort was denied by the keeper.The final few minutes of the game saw Guardian Angel knocking at the Salgaocar citadel but keeper Jason did well to keep the scores level.Salgaocar FC coach introduced Clencio Pinto replacing Aslon at the start of the second half to bring more attacking width to his team.However, Guardian Angel had the first shot at the goal in the second half when Josley went for glory after dribbling a couple of rival players, but the mideo’s shot was saved by the rival keeper.Minutes later, Guardian Angel were denied by the post when Ashely’s header came off the cross bar.
Second half sub Clencio made his presence count in the team as his pace and positioning helped his team to have more attacks.Surprisingly it was the keeper Jason providing the first assist for his team as his long delivery to Brian Mascarenhas, who rounded off the keeper to give his side a well deserved lead in the 56th minute.The joy was short-lived as Guardian Angel SC scored the equalising goal in the 58th minute.Micky scored an Olympic goal, after his shot from the flag kick curled into the far post brining ruptures into the stands.With fans backing the Curchorem side, Guardian Angel pressed hard to find the match-winner and almost scored in the 60th minute but Perryson’s header was saved on the line by keeper Jason.However, Guardian Angel scored the match winner in the second minute of the injury time when Micky played the ball to Bonny Niasso from the flag kick and the latter fired in the top corner to give his side a vital win.Bonny Niasso won the Man-of-the-Match award.
