Brit held with drugs was visiting Goa since 2007

Panaji: UK national David Johnson, who is alleged to be involved with the drug mafia in the State, first visited Goa in 2007 as per records with Goa Police. Johnson was arrested from Anjuna last month by Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police under the NDPS Act for possessing narcotics worth Rs 23 lakh.
As in previous years, Johnson arrived in the State for the ongoing tourist season and had left the country a few weeks ago but returned in February 2017. According to Police, he made frequent visits between UK and India, allegedly to ferry drugs to Goa.
Police have found that he resided in a rented place in Anjuna. Neither Form C, which is mandatory for foreign nationals to submit to the FRRO (Foreign Registration regional Office), has been filed nor has there been physical verification by the local police.
The alleged drug dealer was in Goa on a tourist visa, and all his past arrival follow the same pattern.
Police investigations reveal that, Johnson had rented a shop in Anjuna and was selling party materials.
He also used to undertake party decorations in restaurants and clubs on the North Goa coast. He claims, he was doing a portion of the decorations free and used to sell the night party material and accessories to the party visitors.
Police suspect that along with this trade he was supplying drugs at the night parties. Johnson was arrested on March 24, along with his two Indian associates.[H]
