Budget indicates achievements of previous govt, says Nilkanth
The NCP party president, Mr Nilkanth Halarnkar, said that facts and figures mentioned in the budget speech of the state government are those of the previous government’s achievements, as the incumbent BJP government has not even been able achieve 40 per cent of whatever promises they had made.
While addressing the media, Mr Halarnkar said that the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar had made tall promises without even showing the much needed cash in the state treasury. He said the numbers of dole schemes and borrowing by the BJP government would plunge the state into a debt trap.
“Mr Parrikar, rather than focusing on making the Goan youth skilled and self sufficient, is making them dependant on government dole for their survival,” said Mr Halarnkar, and added further that most works initiated by the earlier government is reflected in the performance chart of the BJP government in the budget.
“Being the former tourism minister, I had initiated nearly 11 projects which the present government has not even taken further for speedy implementation,” said Mr Halarnkar. He informed that Mr Parrikar was also a part of the high powered committee for tourism development, when he (Halarnkar) was the tourism minister and had taken two meeting for calling expression of interest for tourism projects.
He criticised that on the one hand the government is doling money by announcing scheme after scheme, while on the other hand the much needed stamp papers to avail the schemes are not made available.
“Hardly any Rs 20 stamp papers are available in the market, and the people have to use the Rs 50 stamp papers to avail the scheme,” he said. [NT]
