Buoyant Sporting Clube ready for Churchill Bros
Sporting Clube de Goa will look to build on their new-found confidence when they lock horns with Churchill Brothers in a 19th round match of the I-League at Duler Stadium, here on Friday.
Fresh from their win against Goan rivals Salgaocar FC, the Flaming Oranje are determined to wipe out bitter memories of an 8-4 defeat they received at the hands of Churchill. It was Sporting’s biggest loss since their entry in the I-League almost a decade ago. Now, as the two teams come face to face for the first time since that encounter, Sporting coach Oscar Bruzon Barreras says his team is better prepared to face their fancied rivals.
“That match seemed like it was played a long time ago. We are a different team now and are ready to tackle Churchill Brothers,” said the Spanish coach.
Like Barreras said, Sporting Clube is now in a better shape than what they were a month ago. They have packed more firepower in their arsenal with the addition of Spanish defender Angel Berlanga and are on a high after accounting for Salgaocar in their previous clash. [NT]
