Canara Bank detects fake notes, complains to Panjim police

Circulation of counterfeit currency notes in banks continues as police received yet another complaint in this regard on Saturday.

Canara Bank complained to the Panjim police that it received five fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination.

Police said the fake notes were deposited by unknown person(s) on October 18 at Dena Bank and Canara Bank’s Margao branch. The notes were detected as fake at Canara Bank’s Panjim office.
Several such complaints have been reported at different police stations and economic offences cell, since the last couple of months.

Police have hardly made any breakthrough in the cases yet.  [H]
