Case against ex-transport dept officer
The Anti-Corruption Branch Wednesday registered a case against a former transport department officer for allegedly submitting fake experience certificates to get recruited to the post of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector.
The FIR under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered only after the orders were passed by the Special Judge Anuja Prabhudessai.
The court acted on the complaint filed by Yaseer Ismail of Porvorim who alleged that Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Oden Champ Da Costa submitted two bogus experience certificates of Angel Auto Service and Rudy Enterprises to get the job.
The transport department terminated the services of Oden Champ Da Costa Motor on April 19, 2012.
The special judge had also directed to investigate the crime as well as the involvement of any other person in it. The selection committee has also come under the scanner as it had not verified the certificates.
The complainant has named Transport Director Arun Desai, Assistant Director of Transport, Prahlad Dessai, Transport Minister, Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar, KTCL chairman, Deepak Dhavalikar, Milind Bhobe and Oden Champ Da Costa, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector for the offence.
He had also alleged that 29 posts of assistant motor vehicle inspectors were illegally filled when only 14 such posts were advertised. [H]
