Cavelossim villagers say no to night clubs


The gram sabha of Cavelossim Panchayat on Sunday said no to night clubs, including Club Tito, in the village.
The gram sabha also resolved that access to the beach front be maintained for the benefit of local people.
The meeting turned stormy over the issue of license granted for Tito Club, with gram sabha members demanding cancellation of the license. Member pointed out that Cavelossim beach finds mention as one of the best beaches and demanded that the night club culture from North Goa should be allowed in the village.
Those opposing questioned sarpanch Viola A N A Costa for granting licence to the club which they said would spoil the youth of the village who would be addicted to drugs and other activities.
Sarpanch Costa was also questioned on steps taken by the body to see that taxis owned by the local residents are given place for business by the star hotels in the village. 
It was informed by sarpanch that she wrote to one of the hotel, Raddison and that reply was to have talks with respective hotel association and decide. It was resolved to submit letters to all hotels in the village with request to allow local taxi owners to operate their vehicles from the respective hotel. 
The gram sabha took a resolution directing panchayat body to impose fine on persons caught dumping garbage in open places. [H]
