Changing face of the nursery of folk talent
Shigmo's focus has shifted from live dances to the dead shows of chitra-rath, when it should have been the opposite, the aim being conservation of the rich, spiritually-based and aesthetically superb folk cultural ethos of Goa, writes Pandurang Phaldesai.
The various rituals observed in the form of festivals in Goa establish the direct link with age-old traditions that emerged after the fusion of races and agricultural communities.
