Chess medallists Krystal, Rishub feted

 

Krystal Fernandes, who won the silver medal at the Asian School Chess Tournament in Delhi and Rishub Naik, winner of All India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament in Tamil Nadu were felicitated by the Sports Minister, Mr Ramesh Tawadkar, in Panaji recently.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Tawadkar said: “Goa should be proud of these young talents who are competing with the best in the country.”
 
“Government will go all out to see that Goa will be a force in chess in India,” Mr Tawadkar added. He further said that the Government is in the process of setting up of 5 Sports Schools 
 
in Goa.
 
Mr Shyam Bodke of Krida Probodini appealed to the corporate giants and industrialists from Goa to come forward and lend a helping hand to chess players. He opined that Goa can become the number one state in India if the state players get  financial support. [NT]
