Churchill Bros thrash ONGC 5-0

Churchill Bros thrashed ONGC 5-0 in the second round to taste their first win of the sixth I-League at Nehru stadium, Fatorda-Margao on Thursday.

All the five goals came in the first session of play with 25- year-old Lebanese striker Akram Moghrabi scoring a fine hat-trick, finding the ONGC net in the 17th, 30th and 45th minute. Brazilian Roberto Silva (27th) and Lebanese defender Bilal Najjarine (43rd) completed the rout.
There was surprisingly no score in the second session, though Churchill Brothers had a copule of chances when Bikramjit Singh missed the mark twice while Akram and Tomba Singh failed once each.
As a matter of fact, ONGC were totally outplayed and in the first half they did try to score through Yusa Katsumi in the 14th and 15th minute and then had only one try in the second half through substitute Tarif Ahammad in the 71st minute.
Though Churchill Brothers were all over the rival territory in the second session too, they somehow could not be accurate in their shooting and slacked a bit after knowing fully well that the match was theirs.
Midfielder Stephen Dias was at his best sending deep crosses which put the ONGC defence in disarray and facilitated in scoring goals, all of which had a stamp of class written on them. But the goals that were scored by the Akram had their own magic.
Churchill took the lead when Stephen lobbed the ball to Akram who neatly headed the ball into the far corner beating ONGC keeper Prosenjit Ghosh hands down.
Stephen again was in the thick of action sending another cross to Beto who blasted home.
Again Stephen took a corner kick deep towards the rival goal mouth which Akram headed in.
Bilal Najjarine then stepped up pressure and was delighted to move from defence to score a great goal and then finally it was Akram who scored to complete his hat-trick.
