CLP meet debates draft khazan development act

A meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) held on Monday has opposed certain provisions of the draft Goa Khazan Land Development Board Act, 2012.
Opposition Leader Pratapsing Rane has already submitted his opposition to acquisition, sale and transfer of the land.
Addressing a press conference post-CLP meeting, its spokesperson Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said the BJP-led Goa government should not take decision in haste which is bound to destroy Goa’s identity.  The CLP also pointed out to contradictions during their meeting in the proposed bill.
“We want that Goan identity remains,” Lourenco, legislator from Curtorim constituency added.
State government’s move to introduce the bill is being contested by various groups with Pilerne Citizens Forum even stating it is to secure vested interest of some people.
The forum had pointed out that the proposed bill with unwarranted powers of ownership, sale and development of khazan land vested to board, is a move towards commercialization of fertile agricultural lands.
The meeting, Lourenco said, was attended by all congress leaders.  [H]
