CM announces diesel subsidy for owners of fishing trawlers

Announcing subsidy on diesel for the owners of the fishing trawlers in the state, the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that these trawler owners can now buy diesel from the petrol pumps in the state, and the government would reimburse the same in the form of subsidy.

Coming out with this announcement during a related Zero Hour mention in the House, the Chief Minister further said that the government would also provide subsidy for other bulk consumers like Kadamba Transport Corporation. “In fact, the government has already asked the bulk consumers of diesel like KTC, public works department and police to shift to the fuel pumps in the state,” he added, pointing out that these agencies were earlier buying diesel in bulk through arrangements like co-operative societies.  It may be recalled that the owners of the fishing trawlers from Goa have anchored their vessels and proceeded on a strike against the decision of the central government to hike the rate of diesel by Rs 11 per litre.
