CM says he’s averse to ‘gifts’ donated to party
Claiming that he has been faithful to his ‘zero-tolerance to corruption’ motto, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said he has been meticulously safeguarding the government treasury from misuse.
Addressing a function in Ponda, Parrikar went to the extent of stating that he is also averse to “gifts” donated to the party.
“During my tenure, I never allowed anyone to play with government funds and neither will I allow anyone to do so in future,” assured Parrikar.
The chief minister also narrated an incident to indicate his strong opposition to donations to the party.
“Once a businessman offered to donate money to the party after his work was completed. I pointed out to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji behind my table and warned him that the sword which is in a half-resting position will come out from the statue. I don’t encourage such kind of offerings,” said Parrikar. [H]
