CM urged to declare Holi as a public holiday

Goa government employees association (GGEA) has urged chief minister Manohar Parrikar to declare March 27 (festival of holi) as a public holiday under the Negoitable Instrument Act instead of a special holiday.
John Nazareth, general secretary of GGEA , said that Holi being one of the popular festivals of the state's majority community, a majority of the employees are expected to avail the benefit of the special holiday and thus the offices be deserted. [TOI]
