Colva civic and consumer forum files complaint with TCP over illegal dumping of mud
The Colva civic and consumer forum (CCCF) filed a complaint with the town and country planning department (TCP) on Wednesday, regarding the alleged dumping of mud at Colva that took place on Tuesday.
The activists claimed that the issue was regarding an earlier complaint with the TCP regarding a similar illegal action of dumping of mud without procuring permissions. They also said that a police complaint had been filed in the past. "We went to the TCP office in Panaji to find out if any permission had been given to allow such dumping of mud, and were told that no such permission was given. This is for a private party and you have to wonder how when a common man follows all procedure and takes all necessary permission from the TCP and other departments, this has been allowed to happen and no action seems to be taken to stop it," said Judith Almeida, CCCF convenor who added that it is yet to be seen whether the authorities act or not.
TCP officials said that they would have to conduct an enquiry to ascertain the allegations but confirmed that no permissions had been given. [TOI]
