Cong demands AAI file FIR against BJP within 2 days

Vasco: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has given Dabolim airport director B C H Negi two days to file a complaint against BJP and BJP national president Amit Shah for organising a meeting at Goa International airport, Dabolim, on Saturday. The state Congress unit also threatened to file a complaint against Negi if he failed to file a complaint against Shah within the timeframe. All Indian Congress (AICC) party secretey Girish Chodankar told TOI, “In case Negi doesn’t file a police complaint within two days, Congress will lodge a complaint and make Negi party to it. He is appointed by the government of India and he is the custodian of the airport. It is his duty to take action against violators.”
Chodankar added, “The violators are none other than national party president of the ruling and chief minister of state. What message have they sent across to the nation? Do they want to say that people in power can break rules as per their whims and fancies?”Chodankar said on Monday morning few Congress office bearers like Sankalp Amonkar, Pratima Coutinho and others had gone to Negi to check the documents permitting the meeting at the airport as Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godhinho has claimed that permissions were taken.
Though Negi confirmed that no permissions were given, he was reluctant to give a deadline of registering a police complaint.
“It is a defence airport and any terrorist could have easily attacked the airport in the crowd. A vehicle is not allowed to stay there for five minutes and people in large numbers had gathered. There were a lot of violations by senior BJP leaders,” he added.
On why the police have not registered any complaint on behalf of the state, Mormugao DySP Lawrence D’Souza said, “It was a Centre and state joint function. The police have nothing to do with it.’ D’Souza added that not a single complaint from either airport officials or Congress has reached him. [TOI]
