‘Cong involved in mining scams’
Blaming the Congress for “misguiding” people on the mining issue, North Goa BJP Spokesman Hanumant Parab has also accused Opposition Leader Pratapsing Rane of failing to raise his voice against illegal mining in the State.
“The Congress is trying to misguide the public, especially those who are dependent on mining, when they themselves are involved in mining scams,” said Parab, while speaking at a press conference at Bicholim.
“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is trying to resolve the issue in the larger public interest, but the Congress is creating hurdles in the path through false propaganda.”
“It is also surprising that the Congress is blaming us when the opposition leader has not uttered a word against mining during his long tenure. It is because of them that Goans are facing this problem,” Parab added.
Appealing to truck owners not to get carried away, Parab said people should put pressure on the mining lobby who are the “real culprits.”
“People should also realise that it was not only a decision of the government, but that of the Supreme Court as well. So, they (people) should ask mining companies to come up with all the legal documents.”
“People should also support the government in efforts to work out a relief package for affected families from the mining lobby,” Parab said. [H]
