Cong slams CM over ‘irresponsible’ statements
The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) condemned the outburst of chief minister Manohar Parrikar against the central empowered committee (CEC) with regards to its report on mining submitted to the Supreme Court (SC).
"The Congress strongly believes that if we want an early solution and are seriously concerned about the welfare of the people dependant on mining, it is necessary to support the inquiry being undertaken by the Supreme Court, rather than confronting and criticizing the SC," CLP spokesperson, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said. He added that this would only lead to further complications between the state and the SC "which will not be in the interest of the state and the people".
Lourenco requested Parrikar to stop making "irresponsible statements" which are not in the interest of the state. "With this, one really does not know whether Parrikar wants to help the people who are dependant on mining or make this issue so complex and complicated by carrying out this confrontational attitude so that the issue never gets resolved," he said.
Congress also criticized Parrikar for his "U-turn" on the Mayem evacuee property issue as he has failed to keep his promise to resolve the issue by November. [TOI]
