Curti discusses VP action on previous resolutions
The Curti-Khandepar gram sabha on Sunday utilised majority of the time to discuss the action taken by the panchayat on the resolutions passed during the previous gram sabhas.
During the three-hour-long gram sabha, two hours passed in reading the minutes of the previous meetings and subsequent action taken by the panchayat.
It may be recalled that in November, the gram sabha was adjourned after villagers blamed the panchayat for not taking action on the resolutions passed. The villagers had demanded tabling of a detailed report on actions taken on the resolutions passed.
The adjourned gram sabha was held on Sunday in the panchayat hall that could hardly accommodate 20-30 people. Many villagers were seen outside the hall and were unable to hear the proceedings.
While discussing on the action taken by the panchayat on resolutions passed during previous gram sabha, Curti-Khandepar Sarpanch Deepa Naik said none of the transport offices have taken permission from the panchayat. “But they have obtained permissions from the government authorities like RTO and Collector,” informed Naik.
“Panchayat has now decided to write to the concerned authorities on haphazard parking of trucks,” added Naik.
The issue of illegal godowns which was debated during the last gram sabha also came up for discussion. The villagers got angry after the panchayat informed that there are no godowns in the panchayat jurisdiction as during inspection the panchayat did not find any stored materials in the places that villagers claimed were used as godowns.
Villagers claimed that there are number of godowns in the village and demanded that the godowns be shut.
The panchayat decided to form a 15-member committee with five each members from Christian, Muslim and Hindu community to work out on demarcation of the 17,000 sq mts land for crematorium at Deep Nagar, Curti.
Sensing law and order situation, a platoon of Goa Armed Police along with police personnel from Ponda Police Station were deployed outside the panchayat building however, the gram sabha was peaceful. [H]
