The deputy Chief Minister, Mr Francis D’Souza inaugurated the newly constructed volleyball and badminton courts in the premises of the St Andrew’s Church, Vasco.
On the occasion, Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar, Vasco MLA, Mr Carlos Almeida, Dabolim MLA, Mr Mauvin Godinho, Mormugao Planning and Development Authority, chairman, Mr Krishna Salkar, Mormugao Municipal Council, chairperson, Ms Fiola Rego, Parish Priest of St Andrew’s Church Fr Jose Antonio Da Costa, Sport Authority of Goa, Executive Director, Mr Elvis Gomes, MMC, chief officer, Mr Agnelo Fernandes, Fr Clifton, Parishioners of St Andrew’s Church besides other dignitaries were also present.
The deputy Chief Minister, Mr D’Souza inaugurated the volleyball and badminton courts by cutting a ribbon. While speaking on the occasion, Mr D’Souza stressed on individual excellence which is important for the sports activities. He praised the Parish Priest of St Andrew’s Church Fr Jose Antonio Da Costa for his initiative to grow the St Andrew’s campus after taking over the charge as a Parish Priest here. He further said that Parish Priest of St Andrew’s has also played a key role in brining all the community people together which is his greatness towards the humanity.
He congratulated the Parish Priest of St Andrew’s for his future endeavour and other projects benefiting the people at large in Vasco and also all over the state.

An exhibition volleyball match was held in between Diocesan Priests and Vascokar Youths wherein Vascokar Youths won in straight sets 25-12, 25-17 and 24-26.
Fr Da Costa earlier welcomed the gathering and dignitaries on the dais. He expressed special thanks to the Chief Minister and deputy Chief Minister for attending the inaugural function.
The winners and runners up team members were presented trophies and exciting gifts at the hands of deputy CM. Fr Clifton proposed the vote of thanks. [NT]
