There will be two categories for the competition, group which can comprise up to 10 participants and duet. There will be prizes up to Rs 5 lakhs for the winners of the different categories. The semi- finals and finals will be held on May 18 and 19 respectively at Kalaangann, Mangalore,” said Eric Ozario, Convener of the ‘ Jagotik Konknni Songhotton’. “ The participants will have to practice a total of four songs, one for the audition round, one for the semi- final round and two for the finals, one Konkani song and one Konkani folk song. The auditions will be held in the month of January and February, 2013 and the participants will have a break of two months to practise on their songs. Those who will head for the semi- finals and finals round will be reimbursed for their traveling to Mangalore and will be provided with food, boarding and lodging up to 60 hours,” added Eric.
“ There will be a Goa launching ceremony which will be held to get the participants acquainted with the rules of the competition.
The registration forms will be available at the venue. On submission of the forms, we will check the song details as the mix of songs have to be based on 4- 5 Konkani songs instead of English or Hindi songs.
