Deshprabhu files plea to visit Delhi
Congress leader Mr Jitendra Deshprabhu who is accused of illegal mining, has moved an application before the North Goa Sessions Court seeking permission to travel to Delhi for a period of eight days.
The investigating police officer has opposed the application and prayed before the court that it may not be granted.
It may be recalled that Mr Deshprabhu was granted anticipatory bail by the North Goa Sessions Court some days back with a condition that he cannot travel outside Goa without prior permission of the court. Ms T S Sardinha, the public prosecutor appeared on behalf of the state. The court has posted the matter for orders on November 29.
It may be noted that the government in its action plan against alleged illegal mining perpetrators filed an FIR against Mr Deshprabhu and other officials of the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) for cheating the exchequer of ` 50 crore through illegal mining. [NT]
