Despite CM’s assurance, yet another Rajdhani train halts at Margao

Margao: Despite Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s assurance not to allow Rajdhani trains to halt in Goa, yet another train arrived from Delhi en route Thiruvananthapuram and disembarked at least 11 passengers at Margao Railway Station on Thursday.

The train stopped at Margao Railway station at 12 pm and disembarked 11 passengers who were later taken for test.

Another 30 passengers boarded the Rajdhani train to travel to Thiruvananthapuram. Sources informed that the bookings for Rajdhani that arrived in Margao were made much earlier. The train will be arriving from Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday but whether passengers will alight at Margao is not known.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had informed that upon his request the Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram trains were stopped. However, the trains continue to disembark passengers in Margao till date.

It is learnt that though most passengers are non-Goans, they have shown the Goa address for their return. The official in charge claimed that most may be the ones who are on a relaxation trip to Goa. [H]
