Don Bosco College triumph

 

Don Bosco College, Panjim, emerged champions at All-Goa inter-college tennis ball cricket champions trophy tournament organized by Event Management and Physical Education of Dempo College and sponsored by Priority Honda, here, yesterday. They ebat MES College, Vasco in the finals.MES won the toss and elected to field. Don Bosco recorded the highest score of the tournament, 110 in 10 overs with eight wickets in hand. MES could only register 54 in the allotted 10 overs as they lost all their wickets.
Earlier, in the semis, DoN Bosco beat DMC College and MES defeated St Xavier’s, Mapusa.
DMC College gave Don Bosco a chase of 66 runs in 10 overs to which Don Bosco replied with 70 runs in 5.5 overs. St Xavier’s scored 75runs in 10 overs and MES replied with 79 in 6.5 overs.
PWD Minister, Sudin Dhavlikar was the chief guest and GCA secretary Chetan Desai, Goa University’s assistant director sports and PE, Milton Fernandes guests of honour.
Don Bosco College Manager Fr Wilfred Fernandes and Principal Dr Marie Raj were among those present.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best bowler Sanket Jotkar of Don Bosco.
Best batsman Abdul Salam of MES. Man-of-­the-tournament Tushar Narvekar of Don Bosco.
Don Bosco won Rs. 20,000 while MES had to be contenet with Rs 10,000 sponsored by Priority Honda (title sponsors).  [H]
