Double crown for Tejan, Anura

Both Tejan Fallary and Anura Prabhudesai bagged double crown at the SAG State Badminton championships, organised by Goa Badminton Association in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa at indoor stadium, Campal.

Tejan won the U-15 and U-17 boys singles titles while Anura emerged winner in the U-15 and U-19 girls singles categories. In boys U-15, top seed Tejan registered a comfortable 21-16, 21-12 win over second seed Dhruv Angle. The U-17 event was keenly contested between Tejan and Shashank Desai. The match went the full distance with Tejan scraping through to a 21-16, 15-21, 24-22 win from being match point down in the final set.
The girls events were easy wins for Anura as she smashed her way to a 21-6, 21-8 triumph over Emilia Silveira to lift the U-15 title while registering another 21-8, 21-14 straight sets win over Pranjal Chimulkar to emerge winner in the U- 19 event.
Meanwhile, Aashrun Gautam played aggressively to stun top seed Mehul Jirage and win the boys U-13 title. The girls U-13 title was won by Neha Sahakari who beat Manjushri Raut 21-16, 13-21, 21-12 in a hard fought match. NT
In the last match of the day, Varad Karekar who had earlier stunned top seed Tejan Fallary continued his fine form to register a facile 21-14, 21-15 win over second seed Krishnaraj Gauns and emerge triumphant. [NT]
