Education dept to provide school buses

 

 The education department has formulated a scheme named ‘scheme to provide school buses to aided schools, 2013,’ to provide buses to all aided schools recognized by the education department to cover all schools within three years. 
The directorate of education will directly provide school buses to aided schools as per eligibility of schools in a phased manner. Schools have to apply for the bus before November 30 each year.
For the purpose of the scheme the education department has categorized the schools as A, B, C and D, with A category schools having a minimum of twelve divisions from Std V to X for the past three years. Category B will be schools having a minimum of six divisions with a maximum strength per division as per the rules, from Std V to X for the last three years. Category C schools will be those having a minimum of six divisions without relaxation from V to X for the last three years. 
Institutions having six divisions or less under relaxation in division / enrolment including all institutions not falling in categories A, B or C will come under D in this category. 
A Category ‘A’ schools, of which there are 72, shall be eligible for three buses. Category B Schools, of which there are 77, shall be eligible for two buses where as Category C (62 schools) and D (seven middle and 84 high schools) shall be eligible for one bus each. 
The education department will release recurring grants of Rs three lakh per annum to meet the recurring and day-to-day expenses to operate the school bus, out of which two lakh shall be released in the month of June and Rs one lakh shall be released in the month of December.  [H]
