Faldessai rules out threat to govt

Firmly ruling out any threat to the party-led government headed by Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar, BJP South Goa president and Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldessai on Friday warned that he would lead party soldiers if any MLA dares to dislodge the government.

He further ruled out any split in the party if there’s further delay in the resumption of mining and asserted that Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar is the best bet to resolve the mining crisis. “Mining dependent people have faith in Parrikar. They know he would work out a solution. If Parrikar was not there at the helm of affairs, there would have been agitations and protests by now”, he added.
Fielding questions from the media at a briefing along with his newly-elected office bearers from South Goa here on Friday, Subhash said “the party is strong. No one will leave the party. I have no plans to leave the party. The party has reposed faith in me. Otherwise, the party would not have appointed me the district party chief”.
He said there’s a unanimous view amongst the party rank and feel that Parrikar should continue to lead the party government. “There’s absolutely no dissatisfaction against the functioning of the Chief Minister”, he added.
Replying to a question, he said the government would work out a package for the mining truck owners after receiving a report from the Committee headed by Industries Minister, Mahadev Naik. ‘Besides me, MLAs Pramod Sawant, Ganesh Gaonkar and Nilesh Cabral are the other committee members. The committee will give its feedback to the government to take necessary action”, he added.
He replied in the negative when asked whether the party is facing a dearth of leaders to lead the party at the district level with the leadership appointing MLAs, including him and Calangute MLA Micheal Lobo to head the party in both the districts. [H]
