Flaming Oranje stun leaders Churchill

Sporting Clube de Goa added another Goan scalp with a second successive victory, beating I-League leaders Churchill Brothers with a late strike in their 19th round match at the Duler Stadium, here on Friday. Substitute Rovan Pereira scored the match winner in the 83rd minute against the Red Machines, who played with ten men for almost the entire second half.

Sporting came into the game after a facile 2-0 win against Salgaocar Sports Club last weekend. Flaming Oranje’s new Spanish signing Juan Francisco Garcia Pena (Juanfri) made his first appearance for the club along with his compatriot Angel Berlanga, who had made his debut against Salgaocar, this time taking the stopper back position. Churchill coach Mariano Dias promoted Akram Moghrabi to the starting line-up alongside Henri Antchouet and used Roberto Mendes Da Silva (Beto) as a withdrawn striker. [NT]
