Foreigner held for theft at Anjuna

 Anjuna police arrested a British national in connection with a theft case at a cafe in Anjuna on Monday.  Mr Stanislaus Pascoal D’Souza, a resident of Mazalwada Anjuna had complained that between December 10 and 11,

an unknown foreigner entered into his shop and committed theft of cash of Rs 9000 and cigarette packets, all worth around Rs 10,000, at a café’ in Anjuna.
Investigations by Anjuna police pointed to Lloyd Christian, a 41-year-old Briton, as the culprit. Lloyd was arrested and kept in police custody. Police has registered the offence under section 380 IPC and PSI, Mr Vidyesh Pilgaonkar is investigating.
Incidentally, it is learnt that Lloyd is involved in other such theft activities in which he steals valuables and disappears. Some time back the accused had committed a theft at Anjuna  and was nabbed by the Anjuna police but was later released on bail. Soon after, the accused committed theft in a bank at Mapusa from which he stole cash from a bank employee at knife point. Ironically the Mapusa police could not solve the case and were even unable to lay their hands on the accused.
Mr Pilgaonkar informed that the accused has confessed to his involvement in the Mapusa bank robbery case. It is learnt that the Anjuna police on completion of their investigation, will hand over the accused to the Mapusa police. [ NT]
