Four rescued as car plunges into river

A Maruti Alto car, went off the road and plunged into a rivulet, a little distance away from the Kadamba bus terminus, on the way to Merces. There were four occupants in the car when the mishap

happened.

The people on seeing the car enter the water, raised an alarm and managed to save the four people traveling in it. They also managed to move the injured to the GMC for medical attention.

There were three members of a family – Mr Vishram Jadhav, his wife and a child – and another person, who is believed to be a friend of the family. The vehicle was later pulled out of the water by the personnel of the fire and emergency services, who were assisted in a big way by the locals and the people gathered at the site. It was later towed to the police station.

The police are trying to ascertain what went wrong that caused the car to leave the road and fall into the river.

The occupants of the car were discharged from the GMC, later in the evening, after being treated for minor injuries. [NT]
