The freedom fighters in the state and Mayem Bhu Vimochan Nagarik Kruti Samitee (MBVNKS) have threatened to launch an indefinite agitation from January 28 if the issue of evacuee property of the Mayem village is not resolved by the government by January 26, by issuing a special ordinance.
The decision was taken at the special meeting convened by MBVNKS held on Sunday evening at Mahamaya Wachanalaya Hall at Gaonkarwada, Mayem.
The meeting was attended by president of Freedom Fighters Association, Mr Naguesh Karmali, senior freedom fighters, Mr Prabhakar Sinari, Mr Shyamsundar Nagvekar, president of MBVNKS, Mr Kashinath Mayekar, secretary, Mr Sakharam Pednekar, legal advisor, Mr Ajeetsingh Rane, Ms Kajal Karbotkar, Mr Chandrakant Pednekar and others.
Speaker after speaker, during the meeting, stated that the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar, has not fulfilled his promise to resolve the Mayem evacuee property issue within three months after taking over as the Chief Minister, and on the contrary is now making statements to resolve the same step by step, which they said is not justified.
Freedom fighter, Mr Naguesh Karmali said that the time has now come to stand unitedly against the government in the larger interest of the Mayem villagers while, advocate, Mr Ajeetsingh Rane highlighted the entire history of the movement.
Deputy Speaker, Mr Anant Shet, who was also present during the meeting for some time, assured the MBVNKS members to highlight the gravity of the issue to the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar and added that a special meeting of MBVNKS members will be held with him (Chief Minister) in the next four days.
Mr Shet stated that the Chief Minister is making concerted efforts to solve this issue on a priority.
